The Fort Report June 15th – 30th

Seattle gets ready for Pride this year with some excellent midnight offerings, we pay tribute to Christopher Lee, The Grand Illusion celebrates the roots of Electronic and Industrial music, and we have more amazing docs than you can shake a stick at!


    • The Ark Lodge: Paul Dano and John Cusack share the role of the legendary Beach Boy Brian Wilson in Love and Mercy

    • Cinerama Seattle: Chris Pratt takes on Bryce Dallas Howard in Jurassic World
    • Majestic Bay: Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham star in what is being touted as one of the best action comedies in years, Spy
    • Admiral Twin: showing Inside Out, Tomorrowland, & Jurassic World through the week.
    • The Varsity Theater: The gripping drama Hungry Hearts starring Adam Driver screens exclusively at the Varsity
    • Northwest Film Forum:
      • June 23rd: The Tribe sneak preview screening at 8pm
      • June 24th: A 35mm screening of The Blues Brothers!
      • June 26th: Hip Hop fashion doc Fresh Dressed opens a week long run.
    • The Central Cinema: Howl’s Moving Castle, The Fifth Element, Desperately Seeking Susan and the all-time great music flick Spice World play through the month.
    • The Grand Illusion
      • June 19-25 the history doc on the creation of the Russian electric sound Elektro Moskva
      • June 19th the Grand Illusion welcomes live music to the theater from DJ Coldheart before the screening of Industrial Soundtrack for the Urban Decay. This is a documentary on the birth and history of Industrial music from European factories to the American Avant-Garde scene.  Following the film, there will be a second performance of industrial synth punk by artist Biled Will.  There will be an additional screening of the film on the 20th, but no musical acts will be involved.
      • June 26th – July 2nd: Winner of 5 Mexican Academy awards including Best Picture Gueros has a week long run.
    • SiFF Egyptian: Dan’s festival favorite The Wolfpack plays through the week.
      • To honor the late Christopher Lee, Midnight Adrenaline presents The Horror of Dracula on Friday June 19th.
      • The Rocky Horror Picture Show screens on June 20th as part of the Midnight Adrenaline series.
      • Hairspray screens on the 27th as part of Seattle Pride at Midnight
    • SiFF Uptown: Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten: Cambodia’s Lost Rock N’ Roll is a very powerful documentary about Cambodia’s musical lineage and it’s obliteration by the Khmer Rogue.

  • SiFF Film Center: Here’s a chance to see a festival favorite from SIFF 40! I Am Big Bird: The Carroll Spinney Story plays at the film center.
  • Guild 45th: Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott star in the twilight years comedy I’ll See You In My Dreams.
  • Seven Gables: Jean Dujardin stars in a story based on the true events of the real French Connection titled Connection.
  • Crest Cinema Center: screening Woman in Gold, While We’re Young, Cinderella, Kingsman, and
  • Tin Theater: Showing through the month is The Big Lebowski and I Am Big Bird: The Carroll Spinney story.
