Seven Gables Theater – Showing Simon Pegg’s Hector and the Search for Happiness

Varsity Theater – Alive Inside, Flamenco Flamenco, and Take Me to the River all run through Thursday

Crest Cinema Center – How to Train Your Dragon 2, Maleficent, A Most Wanted Man, and Chef play through Thursday.

Northwest Film Forum – Special event at 6pm with a coloring book happy hour and a screening of the insanely funny Bubble Bubble Meows and the Meteor Stomachache ant 7pm

Sundance Cinemas: One night only! Nas: Time is Illmatic


Friday the 3rd

The Central Cinema – Beetlejuice and Showgirls play through the weekend.

The Tin Theater – Jon Favreau’s Chef plays through the weekend

The Grand Illusion – Local filmmaker Shaun Scott’s latest Pacific Aggression opens limited this weekend.  Pacific Aggression was an official selection at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival.

SIFF Cinema Egyptian – Amelie and Enter the Dragon play to welcome one of our favorite movie houses back to the fold!  Additionally, Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth shows at midnight.

SIFF Cinema Uptown – Here’s your chance to see A Streetcar Named Desire on both stage and screen!  First, SIFF Cinema Uptown presents a screening of the 1951 film which garnered 12 Oscar nominations and 4 wins.  Next, National Theatre: Live presents A Streetcar Named Desire, taken from the fastest selling production in the Young Victorian Theatre’s history, and starring Gillian Anderson. The NT:Live production runs through the weekend.

The Geriatric – Fashion Documentary Advanced Style opens Friday as well as David Fincher’s Gone Girl and Juliette Lewis’ Kelly and Cal.

Varsity Theater – Last Days in Vietnam opens with special guests in attendance.

Sundance Cinemas – The Skeleton Twins, Jimi: All is by My Side, the Equalizer, the Notebook


Saturday the 4th

SIFF Cinema Egyptian – My Neighbor Totoro, Y Tu Mama Tambien, the Cohen Brothers’ films O Brother Where Art Thou & Blood Simple, plus a midnight screening of Risky Business

Sunday the 5th

SIFF Cinema Egyptian – My Neighbor Totoro, Kurosawa’s Kagemusha, the Adventures of Priscilla; Queen of the Desert, and Tilda Swinton’s groundbreaking Orlando.

Monday the 6th

SIFF Cinema Egyptian – August Island Pictures, Jackaroo Pictures, and Tom Douglas present a special evening featuring a benefit screening of The Breach, wild salmon prepared by Tom Douglas, a Q&A with the filmmakers and special guests, and live music. Proceeds to benefit SIFF and to support the fight to Save Bristol Bay. Event begins at 6pm

SIFF Film Center – Emily Best (Seed & Spark) returns to the SIFF Film Center for an illuminating FREE workshop around the evolving world of crowd-sourced funding.

SIFF Cinema Uptown – The Recent Raves film series continues with festival favorites Land Ho! and Night Moves.
